Implants
Implants are a popular dental solution for replacing missing teeth. They are designed to look and function like natural teeth, offering a long-term option for enhancing your smile.
Dental implants offer several significant benefits for individuals seeking a long-term solution for missing teeth. One of the key advantages of dental implants is their durability and longevity, as they can last a lifetime with proper care. Unlike dentures, implants fuse with the jawbone, providing stability and preventing bone loss. This integration also allows for improved chewing efficiency and speech clarity, enhancing overall comfort and confidence. Additionally, dental implants look and feel like natural teeth, promoting a more natural smile and preserving facial structure. Overall, dental implants offer a reliable and aesthetically pleasing option for restoring both function and beauty to a patient's smile.
With proper care, implants can last a lifetime, making them a valuable investment in your oral health. If you are considering implants, consult with one of our dentists to determine if you are a suitable candidate for this effective tooth replacement option.
FAQs
-
Determining eligibility for dental implants involves assessing factors such as jawbone density, overall oral health, general health, commitment to oral hygiene, and realistic expectations. During your initial consultation, our dentist will evaluate these factors to create a personalised treatment plan.
-
Yes, dental implants can replace multiple missing teeth. This can be achieved through individual implants for each missing tooth, an implant-supported bridge for adjacent missing teeth, All-on-4 or All-on-6 implants for full arch replacements, or implant-supported dentures for enhanced stability and comfort compared to traditional dentures.

The full dental implant process typically involves several steps over a 3-6-month period that varies depending on individual circumstances. The standard timeline for a single implant is as follows:
Initial consultation; understanding your concerns and performing an oral examination. A referral for a CBCT scan is provided.
After the CBCT scan has been done, planning of the implant surgery occurs and a second consultation is conducted. Our dentist will take you through the individualised process, provide consent forms, treatment plan and quotation for your consideration. In this appointment, the dentist will clarify any concerns or questions you may have. Booking the surgery date can occur after your second consultation.
Surgeries are normally booked in the morning, and we recommend you arrive early to allow time for preparation. Surgery time on average is 1.5 hours and full care instructions will be provided.
2-3 weeks after surgery, we will book you in for a review and suture removal, all covered under the initial cost of the surgery.
3-6 months after the surgery, another appointment will be organised where a torque test will be performed to ensure adequate healing of the implant has occurred. If the site is healed, an intraoral scan will be done to create an implant crown.
2 weeks after the intraoral scan is performed, the implant crown will be fitted.
As the process of dental implants is long, we highly recommend coming in for your regular check-ups and cleans in between implant appointments. As all cases are different, variation of this timeline may occur.

Recovery from dental implant surgery typically takes a few days to a week. Patients may experience swelling, discomfort, and mild bleeding initially. Most can resume light activities and return to work within a day or two, with full healing occurring over the following months. Following post-operative instructions, such as eating soft foods and practicing good oral hygiene, is essential for a smooth recovery process.

The cost of dental implants can vary widely depending on several factors, including the number of implants needed, the complexity of the procedure, and any additional treatments required, such as bone grafting or extractions.
During your second consultation, a treatment plan will be created, along with a quotation. If you have private health insurance, this quotation can be used to check with your insurer. We accept all health insurances, although each individual policy is different.
We understand that budget limitation may be preventing you from receiving necessary dental treatment. At Vale Dental, we offer any different payment solution.
